Driving anyway? Fill the empty seats. Offer your route in seconds and share the running costs with people going your way. Síob caps every fare at cost so you stay a lift-sharer, never a taxi, and keep more of your fuel money.
To calculate the costs of each journey, we use the latest mileage and fuel rate allowances approved by the Irish and UK governments for the current tax year. For 2026-2027, the rates published are:
£0.55 per mile for travel within the north of Ireland; and,
€0.418-0.5182 per kilometre for travel within the south of Ireland.*
For cross-border travel, Síob adopts the rate of the jurisdiction of the journey start-point.
The amount recoverable from any passenger is calculated as the total cost of the journey divided by the number of seats in the car.
*The Department of Public Expenditure and Reform rates are variable and actual rates are calculated by reference to engine capacity.

Looking to get somewhere but stuck for a lift? Search your route and find drivers already heading that way. Think hitch-hiking but with added security for both you and the driver. Simply pitch in the cost of fuel for the journey.
To calculate the cost of a journey for any passenger, Síob divides the total cost of the journey to the driver by the number of seats in the vehicle - not the number of passengers. This is what you pay to the driver.
Additionally, Síob charges each passenger a fixed service fee of €1.50 / £1.30 per booking, regardless of the length of the journey. This allows Síob to exist!
